![]() Come for entertainment, but you may just leave with a ghost. The Bijou celebrated its 100th birthday in 2009, and each year the theatre celebrates its anniversary with the Bijou. The hotel was later converted into a theater, and renamed the Bijou Theatre. Colonel William Sanders took his last breath in the bridal suite, and he is the only ghost amongst the soldiers and women of the night that has a solid identity. The Bijou Theatre operated in the early 1800s as The Lamar House, a premier hotel and one of the oldest commercially active properties in Knoxville. The theater seats 700, and there are no bad seats. The theater was originally a home known as the Lamar House, and has been used as both an adult film theater and war hospital. The historic Bijou Theater in downtown Knoxville, TN is a gem of a place to attend a concert or a show. What you may not know, however, is that the glitz and glamour is tainted by the malevolent spirit of a man that stalks the halls. The Theater dates back to 1908, but the building dates back to 1815 where it was built as a hotel.
